Aaron Sorkin is bringing Scout Finch to the spotlight. The Academy Award–winning screenwriter behind “The Social Network” and “Steve Jobs” is reteaming with producer Scott Rudin with a stage adaptation of “To Kill A Mockingbird” for the 2017–18 Broadway season. Taking a break from musical theater, Tony-winning director Bartlett Sher (“The King and I,” “Fiddler on the Roof”) is also attached for the adaptation of Harper Lee’s 1960 American classic.

Both Sorkin and Rudin have a history in the theater; Rudin is particularly seasoned with hits like “A Raisin in the Sun” and “The Book of Mormon,” while Sorkin is best known in theater circles for “A Few Good Men,” for which he also wrote the screenplay.

With such heavy-hitters already attached, we can’t wait to see how casting shakes up! Is it too early to tap “Room” star Jacob Tremblay as Scout’s 10-year-old brother, Jem Finch? And it’s a bit of a stretch, but we know Kate Winslet is itching to work with Sorkin on stage—and to win the coveted T to her impending EGOT.

In case you missed it, she recently told a TimesTalks audience “I’ll try to win that fucker.” The “Steve Jobs” star then joked that tackling another Sorkin script for the stage should about seal the deal. “Aaron’s going to write me something wonderful and then I’ll be in it and we’ll win that thing.”

Who would she play?! The ornery, elitist Alexandra Hancock? The spunky Maudie Atkinson? Or what would really get some attention is a switch of genders for Atticus Finch—we’d pay to see that!

Who would you like to see cast, Backstage readers?
