Paul Rudd may not be donning his Ant-Man gear for his next film, but he’s still out for vigilante justice in “Mute.” Alexander Skarsgård will join Rudd in the film while Sam Rockwell will throw in his voiceover talents for the white-knuckle thriller. The plot finds a mute bartender willing to stop at nothing to find his missing partner. This need for justice leads the silent drink-slinger right to the doorstep of some local mobsters. Betty Mae Inc. is handling the casting on the project that is still looking to add some actors to its slate before production begins in early October. Production will head overseas to Germany where Berlin will host the film.

Jessica Biel is stepping behind the camera to produce a new pilot about the strange behavior of an ordinary woman. “The Sinner,” based on a novel by Petra Hammesfahr, is moving forward at cable network USA. The project will follow a modest housewife after she suddenly finds she has become a murderer. After killing a man in public, the woman gains the attention of a curious detective who starts seeking the demons behind her behavior. While no cast has been announced for the newly picked up pilot, additions are expected as the October production date approaches. Aibel/Holbrook will handle casting in New York while Cami Patton will cover Los Angeles for the drama that looks to make a temporary home in Charleston, South Carolina. Should the pilot be picked up to series, production will likely move locations.

The “Twilight” saga may have ended, but the vampire craze still lingers. “Let the Right One In,” a pilot that simmered at A&E for a spell, has now been officially picked up over at TNT. The project will find a less-than-popular teen boy befriending a female vampire who lives with her guardian in secrecy. The quiet friendship soon finds itself in danger as a series of murders occurs in the town where they live. The drama, cast by Schiff/Audino, is currently looking for actors and has made no announcements yet regarding casting on the pilot. However, with production starting in Vancouver, British Columbia, this October, casting news is expected fairly soon. Just don’t get bit in the meantime.
Showtime wants to help Jay Pharoah keep his credibility with its new pilot pickup “White Famous.” The comedy project will also feature Megalyn Echikunwoke, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and a recurring role for executive producer and Oscar winner Jamie Foxx. The pilot, which will begin filming later this month in Los Angeles, follows an African-American comedian as he tries to balance his credibility with his arrival into “white famous” territory. Felicia Fasano will cast the project that looks to add a few more to the call sheet before filming begins mid-month.
