Georgia remains an industry powerhouse; Ben Affleck joins Jennifer Garner in Atlanta; and the “Big Brother Is Watching” film series starts July 14 at the Landmark Midtown Arts Cinema. It’s this week’s Atlanta news roundup.
Georgia Remains Hot this Summer
The Georgia film and television industry generated $6 billion for the state’s economy for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2015. Governor Nathan Deal said, “As evidenced by this announcement, Georgia’s film industry has had a significant impact on our state.” Georgia-filmed movies this year include “Vacation” and “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.” Meanwhile, on the small screen, the Georgia-filmed "The Walking Dead,” “Rectify,” and “Satisfaction” will premiere over the next few months.
Garner and Affleck Reunited
Last week we reported that Jennifer Garner—recently separated from Ben Affleck—has been filming “Miracles from Heaven” in Atlanta. Now ComeTourGeorgia.com has revealed that Ben Affleck will also be working in Atlanta this month, filming the crime thriller "Live by Night.” “Live by Night” was adapted by Affleck from Dennis Lehane’s novel about a gang in the Prohibition Era, and will also star Zoe Saldana and Sienna Miller.
