Save the date, Atlanta actors! The application deadline to participate in perhaps the city’s most important audition is next Friday, Jan. 15.

Taking place March 14–15 at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA) in Dunwoody, Ga., the 2016 Unifieds allow both new and established Atlanta performers a chance to perform in front of every major local theater company. As Backstage reported last year, the auditions are a wonderful opportunity to show off a variety of theatrical skills.

Exposure on this scale is largely unparalleled; casting directors and artists from the Alliance Theatre, Actor’s Express, Aurora Theatre, Horizon Theatre Company, 7 Stages Theatre, Theatrical Outfit, and countless others attend Unifieds to discover newcomers, check in with local regulars, and call back those actors who might fit into an upcoming production. Sponsored annually by nonprofit service organization Atlanta Performs, the event registration deadline for Equity, non-Equity, and emerging artists is Jan. 15. There’s also a category for designers, technicians, stage managers, and musicians, who are then invited in the Designer Meet & Greet with participating theaters on March 14.

Each actor is allotted two minutes, with most singing 16–20 bars and delivering a contrasting monologue. Are you ready? For more information, including on the mandatory C4 Atlanta’s Artist membership, résumé requirements, and other important dates, visit atlantaperforms.biz.
