Atlanta actors, listen up! Stay in the loop about what’s currently filming in your fair city (and projects that may just need an extra or two) with our weekly roundup.
Rhavynn Drummer may just be the busiest casting director in town. Season 5 of “The Haves and The Have Nots” is wrapping up at Tyler Perry Studios, and Drummer is also teaming up with co-EPs Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum to cast the pilot for their “Step Up” series.
Last month, Pinewood Studios announced that Zach McGowan of Marvel’s “Agents of Shield” will spend the summer with us shooting the WWII historical drama, “Ni’hau.” At this time, it is reported L.A.-based Brad Gilmore is casting principals.
Samuel L. Jackson will reportedly star in “The Last Full Measure.” Shooting in his hometown of Atlanta, the film will be another historical piece taking advantage of all this lush forest scenery, this time the film focuses on the Vietnam War. SoCal CD Iris Hampton is attached.
Maybe Sam will have lunch with colleagues Robert DeNiro (most recently spotted at the Edgewood Kroger) and Christopher Walken, who have skipped Canada’s tax breaks to shoot “The War With Grandpa” in the Peach State. We hope casting director Roe Baker joined the cast in its transition.
The writers of “The Walking Dead” have expressed a hope to keep the show running as long as “The Simpsons,” and no doubt Georgia will remain its home. As of June 2, as the current season comes to a close, the Southeast’s beloved Fincannon & Associates are handling principals and Extras Casting Atlanta still handles the background, so we think you’ll have plenty of opportunities to jump on board for the next season.
We could go on all day about the projects shooting here, but we hope “Walking Dead’s" Jeffrey Dean Morgan has an apartment ITP for all the work he’s been doing with us. Jeff stars along Duane “The Rock” Johnson in “Rampage,” an homage to the 80s video game of the same name featuring werewolves and lots of fighting. Felddstein/Paris are handling the Atlanta casting, but we hear some of the shoots will be held in Chicago.
