Aussie Film Institute Reeling After Resignation

DNEY -- The Australian Film Institute is in disarray after the resignation of CEO Felicity Cockram, which resulted in the subsequent walkout of the remaining staff, sources said. Australian Film Commission chief executive Kim Dalton confirmed Cockram's resignation in an interview Friday. Reasons for the resignation were not stated. The institute has been under financial pressure for several years in the wake of significant funding cutbacks by the commission, which forced the institute to curtail almost all its activities, with the exception of the 40-year-old annual AFI Awards. The future of the institute and the awards reportedly is uncertain in the wake of Friday's events. (Bec Smit
