The Rockettes and Radio City have long been holiday traditions in New York City, from their yearly appearance during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade telecast to their high-kicking through four shows a day at the iconic venue. This year, brand-new Rockette Lauren Renck took photos of her first performance in the Spectacular, and was gracious enough to share them with Backstage!
I’ve come through this door so many times for both auditions and the Rockettes Summer Intensive. Today, I’m here to perform on the Great Stage in my first performance of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Bring it on!
Breakfast in my dressing room! We perform up to four 90-minute shows per day, so there is no need for a holiday diet for us.
The Rockettes do their own hair and makeup before each performance. First things first: tackle the Rockettes’ signature French twist. Luckily, my hair is cooperating today!
Ninety minutes later and I’m back in my dressing room. Laura Jakowenko and I are so excited to have taken our first bows in New York!
Day 1 is in the books. I’m so excited to make Radio City my home away from home this holiday season.
