Just you wait, just you wait. The Broadway community is abuzz with excitement for the 70th annual Tony Awards, hosted by James Corden at the Beacon Theatre. In the video below, Lin-Manuel Miranda, whose blockbuster musical “Hamilton” smashed the record for most Tony Award nominations with 16, joins Corden to jam out to the show’s album and discuss the upcoming ceremony. Before you know it, they’re joined by six-time Tony Award winner and “Shuffle Along” star Audra McDonald, Emmy nominee and star of solo show “Fully Committed” Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Tony winner Jane Krakowski, a nominee this year for Roundabout Theatre Company’s revival of “She Loves Me.”
“Oh, this’ll be fun,” Corden says, in the biggest understatement of all time.
The four Broadway legends proceed to sing along to tunes from “Rent,” “Jersey Boys,” and—How could they not?—“Les Misérables.” Watch below for the greatest Broadway karaoke session in recorded history—and for that note McDonald hits at the very end.
