Did You Love ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’? Apply to These Similar Gigs

It may be hard for Buffy fans to hear this, but the cult classic series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar is officially 25 years old. Debuting back in 1997, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” was a hit for those who love vampires, demons, and a lot of ass-kickings. The supernatural drama series ran for seven seasons—with the first five seasons airing on The WB and the final two moving to UPN. While “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” unfortunately, isn’t getting a reboot anytime soon, we decided to celebrate the anniversary by rounding up some similar projects. “Rival” 

Casting is underway for a new slasher project. “Rival” is a whodunnit teen slasher that is inspired by the classic ones of the 90s. Production is looking for female talent, aged 18–20;  male talent, aged 18–20; supporting female talent, aged 18–20; and supporting male talent, aged 18–20. The feature film shoots May–July in Denver and Colorado Springs. Pay is $100 per day.

“The Followed”

A new student horror film is casting several roles. “The Followed” is a student horror film about four teens spending their last summer together before going off to college. Production is looking for male talent, aged 18–29, to play Kyle, who wants to be the next big online star; non-binary talent, aged 18–29, to play Genesis, the more logical friend; talent of any gender, aged 18–29, to play Roach, a quiet teen; male talent, aged 18–29, to play Nova, a loudmouth; and a number of other supporting and background roles. Shoot dates are TBD in Chicago, Illinois.

“Pinewood”

Pinewood” is casting male talent. This dark teen drama is about students who are being terrorized by mysterious and deadly ink creatures. Production wants male talent, aged 45–80, to play Professor James Caldwell, who has battled these creatures in the past and is ready to help the teens fight against them. Shoots April 28–May 1 in Bath/Bristol, England area. Meals provided and travel expenses covered. This is an unpaid gig.

Psychological Horror Feature Film

In this psychological horror film, a group of teenagers finds themselves falling prey to a supernatural creature during a weekend getaway to a remote cabin. Production needs talent for three leads, two males and a female, aged 18–30, and more. Shoots in April in Orlando, Florida. Pay is $150 per day.

“Blue Beetle”

Blue Beetle,” a DC Entertainment & Warner Bros. feature film about a Mexican teenager who finds an alien beetle that gives him superpowered armor, is looking for talent. Production is casting background actors of any gender, age, or ethnicity. Shooting starts at the end of April in Atlanta, Georgia. Pay is $120 per day.
