“OLIVER”
A production of the musical “Oliver” is casting several roles. The musical, with book, music, and lyrics by Lionel Bart, adapts the story from the Charles Dickens novel, “Oliver Twist.” The production is casting four roles for young actors: Oliver Twist, a workhouse boy, for male talent, aged 8–12, the Artful Dodger, a student of pickpocketing who is short in stature and excels at the “trade,” for male talent, aged 14–18, Bet, who works in the pickpocket school, for female talent, aged 14–18, and Charley Bates, who also works in the pickpocket school, for male talent, aged 10–18. Rehearsals begin on May 13 for a June 7–23 run. Talent will be paid $446 per week based on an Equity LOA Agreement. An Equity Principal Audition will take place on Jan. 7 in Marietta, Georgia. “BOVINE”
Short film “Bovine” tells the story of a veterinary student and tutor dealing with a confusing sexual encounter with his pupil’s father. The production is casting the role of Jack Vall, a boy with a short attention span, raised in a single-parent home by his stern father, for young male talent, aged 9–12. Rehearsals begin in January for a shoot on Feb. 2–3 in Hanover or Chicago, Illinois. Talent will be paid $125 each day per SAG-AFTRA short film rates. The play “Steal Away Home” is the journey of two young slave boys headed to safety in Pennsylvania after their escape from a plantation in South Carolina. The production is casting three roles for young African American talent, the leads Amos, for a male actor, aged 10–14, and Obie, for male talent, ages 8–12, and the supporting role of Joe, for male talent, aged 15–20. “Golden” tells the story of a loner and film buff suffering from a personal loss. She “descends down a path of self-destruction during a campus weekend at her all-girls boarding school.” The production is casting the lead role of Georgie for a Caucasian teen female actor, aged 17–18. The production is casting additional supporting roles for male and female teen talent. Rehearsals start in early spring for a shoot in late spring and early summer.
