Adding to a list of compelling dramas and powerhouse series like “The Walking Dead,” “Better Call Saul,” and more, AMC has begun casting on its next big show and has already brought a major name on board to star.

Julianna Margulies will lead the darkly comedic, 10-episode “Dietland.” This marks Margulies’ return to primetime following her successful seven-year run as Alicia Florrick on CBS’s “The Good Wife.”

“Dietland,” which will be based on Sarai Walker’s novel of the same name, will follow Plum Kettle, an obese woman preparing for weight-loss surgery, who is caught between two rival feminist factions. The series will be produced by Marti Noxon, best known for her work on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

Margulies will star alongside Joy Nash (who will play Plum Kettle) as Kitty Montgomery, a wildly ambitious magazine editor who must play a game of master manipulation when a feminist terrorist organization begins to target people within her circle.

While casting for additional roles have not yet been announced, Rich Delia has taken the helm as casting director for the series. The search will likely take place primarily in NYC or Los Angeles.

Production will begin later this month in NYC for a 2018 premiere on AMC. The shoot is also in need of a female stand-in, aged 21-40, and male and female background talent, aged 20-45, beginning Nov. 28, and you can apply to those right here on Backstage!
