“Saving Kenan”
Longtime “Saturday Night Live” cast member Kenan Thompson is about to make the jump into scripted comedy. The comedian, who has been a staple on NBC for more than a decade, will be sticking with the network for his pilot, “Saving Kenan.” The project will follow a widowed man who is overwhelmed as a single father trying to raise his children. When his father-in-law becomes more and more present in his life, he begrudgingly allows the man to help him be everything to his kids. The half-hour comedy joins the ranks of various other series under the Broadway Video production banner from “Saturday Night Live” boss Lorne Michaels. While Thompson is taking the lead role, additional actors have yet to be added by casting directors Brett Greenstein and Collin Daniel. It’s likely the pilot will shoot in New York in March.

“Adam & Eve”
Fox’s new pilot “Adam & Eve” explores a modern spin on one of the oldest stories of all time. In the series, Adam and Eve are destined to live out their lives together—they’re also destined to fight when they have to decide on dinner plans or how to discipline the kids. The comedy, based on the French-Canadian series of the same name, will follow the two through three stages of coupledom. First as young lovers, passionately starting out their relationship; then as a middle-aged married couple trying to raise a family; and, finally, as a newly retired pair trying to navigate their senior years. The comedy, cast by Zane/Pillsbury, has already chosen Odette Annable to play Eve. While they work on adding more names to the roster, there’s no word on how the variety of time frames will affect the casting process. Production is eyeing pilot-packed March for the shoot, likely in Los Angeles.

“Council of Dads”
Grab a box of tissues, because NBC’s next foray into the drama-sphere is bound to be a tearjerker. In the Peacock Network’s newest endeavor, an ailing father takes a shot at assembling an all-star team to fill a void in “Council of Dads.” The pilot will follow a couple as they gather a group of friends with kids to step in after the father receives a possibly terminal cancer diagnosis. Veronica Collins Rooney has attached most of the cast, which includes J. August Richards, Sarah Wayne Callies, Michele Weaver, Clive Standen, and Blue Chapman. Filming will begin in March in Savannah, Georgia.
