Enough Turkey, use your post-meal time to find your next gig in New York City! Stage actors have the opportunity to appear in an Equity musical. Spend a day on set as a body double in a feature film, and a Chinese actor is needed to be the star of a dark comedy web series.
“PLAYING HOT”
Part of the Pipeline Theatre Company’s 10th anniversary season, “Playing Hot” is a musical that follows the story of trumpeter Buddy Bolden and the birth of jazz. The show is casting singers and actors, aged 20–35, to join the show for a run in NYC. Performers of color, either male or female-identifying, are strongly encouraged to apply. The ability to play a brass instrument is a plus, as well as the ability to sing jazz tunes. Ensemble members will play multiple characters and will dance. The show is also casting seasoned trumpet players to play Buddy, a role for an African American actor-musician, aged 25–35. Auditions will take place on Nov. 26. Rehearsals begin on March 25, and the show runs from May 5–25. There will also be a reading in January. “AFTER THE MATINEE”
Get some experience on set and appear as a body double in the feature film “After the Matinee.” The main character is in need of a double, for Asian female talent, aged 27–37. The actor is needed for a scene where the character will be walking in Central Park. Auditions will take place by appointment on Nov. 26 in NYC. The scene will film on Nov. 29 or 30. “BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE AMERICA”
A dark comedic web series is casting a Chinese actor for a leading role. “Big Trouble in Little America” is a tribute to the international student experience through the format of four angry narrative essays. The series, directed and written by Qiyue S. Sun, features a different character in each episode coping with living in America. Casting is for a Chinese female actor, aged 18–28, to play all four Chinese students. Candidates may currently be international students and must be fluent in Mandarin and comfortable with “sex-implied” scenes. Shooting takes place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the production is seeking talent from the tri-state area. Performers will be signed to a SAG-AFTRA New Media Agreement.
