This week’s round-up for Texas and the South gathers together roles both large and small. Background work is available for a number of films and promotions in Texas and Louisiana. Bigger roles are available, too, for both stage and screen. The hit musical “Spring Awakening” is casting Equity actors for a production in Dallas, Texas. Non-Equity actors can find work with Pegasus Theatre’s upcoming Living Black & White production. Plus, a new dark comedy film, “Drama Queen,” is casting a shoot in San Antonio, Texas.
“SPRING AWAKENING”
A new production of the hit musical “Spring Awakening” is opening in Dallas, Texas. The production is casting male and female Equity actors, aged 17 and older, for all roles. Most of the roles in the show are for characters between the ages of 16 and 18. Actors should feel confident in their ability to portray a teenager. The show contains adult language and deals with adult subject matter. Rehearsals begin on Jan. 7, 2019 with a run from Feb. 1–3. Auditions take place on Oct. 20. “CRAFTSMAN+”
A new Sam’s Club phone app, “Craftsman+,” is shooting a promotional video in Dallas, Texas. The production is casting a female talent, aged 35–45, to play the lead role, a shopper using the app. The shoot is also casting male and female talent, aged 20–60, to play background shoppers. Fittings take place on Oct. 16. Shooting dates are Oct. 18 and 19. The gig pays $700 per day for the leading role, and $100 per day for background performers. Apply here!
“PRIORITIES”
An inspirational and comedic film is casting for an upcoming shoot in Houston, Texas. “Priorities” is based on a true story about single parenting in the attorney general’s office. The movie will be featured on Amazon Prime, Hulu, Netflix, and iTunes. The production is casting both lead and supporting roles for men and women for a variety of ages and ethnicities. Pegasus Theatre in Dallas, Texas is casting Non-Equity actors for their next Living Black & White production. The show is as yet untitled and the script is in progress. “Drama Queen” is a mystery-dark comedy set in the 1930s. The film is shooting in San Antonio, Texas in October and November. The production is currently casting both leading and supporting roles for men and women. Roles include Diane, for Caucasian female talent, aged 25–35, a successful actress on trial. Ernest, for a Caucasian male actor, aged 25–40, is a lying, wannabe actor. Franklin, for Caucasian male talent, aged 20–30, is a timid, rambling man.
