Maranda Dalton is a young actor from Texas who has been steadily building her résumé by performing in school plays, doing photo shoots, and posting content online. Now, she’s taking her career to the next level.

You can discover your passion at any age.

“I wanted to be involved in the entertainment industry because I find acting and the fine arts so appealing. I’m very drawn to it. I’ve been in theater for four years now, and I want to continue it after high school.”

You can’t win if you don’t play the game.

“I keep coming back to Backstage to try and build my strengths and get roles outside of school. My advice to people who are new is to always apply, because you never know. And make sure you have clear headshots.”

Any type of project is an opportunity to gain experience.

“Finding local [gigs] can really help. Get your face out there on social media. Believe it or not, small [projects] can go a long way. Any role, big or small, is a step in the right direction.”

Enlist help in preparing for a role.

“I usually prepare by making sure to read my lines a few times to become familiar with [the script], and slowly move in with blocking, emotion, etc. My dad has been a big help throughout my time in theater and acting.”
