Choreography Awards

More than 1,000 people in the entertainment industry, including such stars as Carol Burnett, Debbie Allen, Pink, Bob Mackie, Jane Krakowski, and Mitzi Gaynor, attended the 7th Annual American Choreography Awards ceremony on Oct. 14 at the El Capitan Theatre.

The show honors the most sought-after choreographers in feature film, television, music videos, and commercials. Highlights included Burnett presenting Mackie the Governors Award for costuming dancers in all facets of entertainment and a tribute to singer/actress Aaliyah, performed by her choreographer Fatima and a group of dancers. The evening raised more than $15,000 for the Academy of Dance on Film, the nation's only nonprofit arts organization dedicated to the preservation and documentation of dance created for the camera.
