
Before you make your Labor Day holiday plans, consider spending the long weekend at an audition instead of the beach. Cirque du Soleil is casting new talent for its current shows and upcoming creations, which rehearse and perform in various locations worldwide.
Cirque du Soleil's casting scouts will be in Los Angeles from Thursday, Aug. 30, through Tuesday, Sept. 4, to evaluate original and innovative solo, duo, and group circus performers of all floor and aerial disciplines, as well as athletes with skills in gymnastics, diving, trampoline, tumbling, parkour, martial arts, and other sports.
Auditions for circus performers will be held Thursday, Aug. 30, and Friday, Aug. 31, with callbacks Saturday, Sept. 1. Gymnasts, tumblers, trampolinists, sports acrobats, and divers will audition Sunday, Sept. 2 and callbacks will be held Monday, Sept. 3. Martial artists, parkour specialists, inline skaters, BMX bikers, and rhythmic gymnasts will be seen Tuesday, Sept. 4. All auditions will be held at Kinetic Theory in Los Angeles. Males and females of all ethnicities are encouraged to audition. All candidates must be at least 18 years old and must wear appropriate audition attire.
Circus performers will have a maximum of five minutes each to present their act. Gymnasts, tumblers, trampolinists, sports acrobats, and divers should be prepared to showcase their best skills on one or more of apparatuses including fast track, floor, high bar, parallel bars, rings, uneven bars, or trampoline. Martial artists, parkour specialists, inline skaters, BMX bikers, and rhythmic gymnasts will have a maximum of two minutes each to present their act.
