“Creed 3”

Fists up, ready to fight: Michael B. Jordan is back to work as Donnie Creed for the third installment of the “Creed” franchise. Per Twitter, the cast and crew have been filming in Sandy Springs—an inner suburb of Atlanta. According to Variety, production on the third “Creed” movie began on Jan. 18, with some crowd shots taken back in December at Amalie Arena in Tampa. Now, it appears the film is officially filming in Atlanta. Co-star Tessa Thompson confirmed the third installment’s filming status on her Instagram. On her first day on set, she shared a few throwback behind-the-scenes shots from the previous two installments, per Screen Rant

While Thompson didn’t share any new photos on set, paparazzi did capture Jordan’s first week of filming. He was seen in Atlanta donning a Canadian Goose bomber jacket and an olive green tracksuit. Besides the anticipation of finding out what comes next for Donnie and Bianca in the film, there’s extra anticipation and excitement over the fact that this will be Jordan’s directorial debut. The latest news from the set is centered on the crew itself: the film has partnered with Georgia Film Academy by hiring eight student interns to work on the project, via Variety.

As of now, not much is known regarding the plot of the third MGM and Warner Bros. film. The second film ended with Donnie besting his opponent Viktor and visiting his father’s grave, where he both makes peace with Apollo and introduces him to his granddaughter. Jordan, Thomson, Jonathan Majors, Phylicia Rashad, Jacob “Stitch” Duran, and Teófimo López are set to star in the new film. As for whether or not Sylvester Stallone will make a return, there’s no word about his appearance.

Zach Baylin is writing the screenplay with Keenan Coogler, returning after skipping the second film. Alexa L. Fogel is also the new casting director for the film.

“Creed III” is scheduled for theatrical release on Nov. 23.
