Actors Billy Crudup, Fisher Stevens, Julia Stiles, Lili Taylor, and Kerry Washington will join playwrights David Lindsay-Abaire, Warren Leight, and Theresa Rebeck for this season's 24 Hour Plays on Broadway Oct. 22 at American Airlines Theatre.
Proceeds from the annual event, produced by the 24 Hour Company, will go to Working Classroom, a program that brings arts education to New York City schools. Other people participating include David Cross (Arrested Development), Rachel Dratch (Saturday Night Live), Micheal Ealy (Sleeper Cell), Mamie Gummer (Mr. Marmalade), Matthew Lillard (Scream), Anthony Mackie (Half Nelson), Janel Maloney (The West Wing), Rosie Perez (Do the Right Thing), and Marlo Thomas.
Six actors, six directors, and 24 actors will meet at 10 p.m. Oct. 21. The writers stay up all night writing a 10-minute play, the directors get them at 7 a.m., and actors begin rehearsing at 8:30 a.m. Tech rehearsal runs from 5 p.m. to 7:30, the doors open at 7:45, and the evening commences at 8.
