“Bless This Mess”
Picking up your life to move is never an easy task, but going from the big city to a quaint Midwestern lifestyle requires way more than a few boxes. Fox has given the pilot greenlight to “Bless This Mess,” which will follow a couple of newlyweds from New York looking to break up the unfulfilling motions of living in the big city. Operating under the assumption that drastic change is key, they move to Nebraska to seek out a simpler life. There are some things about living in the city that can’t be changed so quickly, though. Casting director Susie Farris is continuing to beef up the roster of names signed on to star in the comedy. Already attached are Lake Bell, who’s also an executive producer; Ed Begley Jr.; and Dax Shepard, who is the only male executive producer listed on the project that’s bringing along an almost exclusively female behind-the-scenes team. Production is set to start on June 6, and Los Angeles will host the Nebraska-set pilot.
“25”
Missed connections are rough, but one guy’s not about to let his long-lost love slip away so easily. “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” will now have to contend with a show on parent network CBS that boasts a similar premise. Convinced his best friend from camp is the love of his life, a 20-something man moves to Austin, Texas, to finally confess his feelings, only to find his soulmate is engaged to another man. He sticks around and ends up finding that Austin may have more to offer than unrequited love. Casting is already well underway with Leslie Litt, who has assembled Matt Shively, Emily Osment, Denée Benton, Tom Maden, and Jessie Ennis to star in the pilot. Production is slated to begin on April 9 and carry on through the end of the month. Los Angeles will host the hybrid comedy during its shoot.
“Abby’s”
NBC thinks sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name—and some very elaborate rules. A community of San Diego residents frequent an unlicensed bar where the unique rules help them avoid the annoying behavior found at other watering holes. CFB Casting has already lined up the majority of the pilot cast just in time for production. Notable names include Natalie Morales, Neil Flynn, Jessica Chaffin, and Nelson Franklin. The production will shoot until April 15 in Los Angeles.
