Disney’s ‘Lion King’ Touring Production to Hold Open Casting Call in L.A.

Welcome to our new series, What’s Casting: L.A.! Check back every week for a spotlight on the biggest projects looking for talent in the city that never sleeps.

Union actors in Los Angeles have the chance to join the circle of life. Disney Theatrical Productions/Buena Vista Theatrical Group will hold an open casting call for a new touring production of “The Lion King” in North Hollywood, California, and we have all the details.

The call will be held on April 28 at Screenland Studios in Burbank, beginning at 10 a.m. (sign-ups will commence at 9:30 and end at 11).

The team requests prospective talent prepare the following: Please bring sheet music of a song that shows off your voice and range in 16 bars standard, classic R and B. No standard Broadway theater music or material from “The Lion King.” Pianist provided. Bring a picture and resume, stapled together or a list of performance experience.

Male and female singers ages 18–45 are sought, as is child talent aged 9–12, able to sing and dance. This will be an Equity Production (Disney) Agreement contract, and pay $1,974/week. Rehearsals will begin Sept. 5 in New York City, with touring dates to be determined.
