The 44th Daytime Emmy Awards handed out trophies for daytime TV artists in front of and behind the camera at California’s Pasadena Civic Auditorium April 30. Recognizing all TV programming broadcast between 2:00 AM and 6:00 PM in the 2016 calendar year, the awards were presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS).

Taking home the coveted prize of outstanding drama series was ABC’s “General Hospital,” which won three other awards including younger actors Bryan Craig and Lexi Ainsworth. CBS, having netted the most nominations across all categories with 71, also totaled the most wins with seven.

For the first time in the awards’ history, an actor—Scott Clifton of CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful”—won a statue for lead actor in a drama series after having also won Emmys in the younger and supporting actor categories. Gina Tognoni of CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” won for lead actress in a drama, her third Daytime Emmy.

Ellen DeGeneres and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” won the award for outstanding entertainment talk show (20 years, nearly to the day, after she famously came out). A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented by Tim Allen to longtime “Entertainment Tonight” co-anchor Mary Hart.

“What a fantastic evening to be celebrating the life and blood of Daytime television,” said NATAS president Bob Mauro in a statement. “The National Academy is excited to be honoring these esteemed nominees and we are thrilled to be honoring the woman who the whole country fell in love with when she first appeared on ‘Entertainment Tonight,’ Mary Hart. Mary’s charm, wit, and intelligence made her the most trusted anchor in the genre of entertainment news. Tonight, we raise a glass to her long career and all the men and women who make Daytime television one of the staples of the entertainment industry.”
