Fire Department Dims House of Candles

Moments before the curtain was scheduled to rise on the maiden performance of the 2nd Annual NY International Fringe Festival, the NYFD shuttered The House of Candles, one of the Festival's 17 performance venues, to the surprise of theatre owner and Festival co-founder Aaron Beall, citing the location as structurally unsound.

But the show must go on, as SoHo Rep. leapt to the rescue with surprising swiftness, offering its distinguished theatre for all nine of House of Candles' presentations, and every performance has proceeded as planned. The NY Fringe Festival, in its final three days, closes Sun., Aug. 30. Ticket and calendar information can be obtained by calling 1-888-FRINGE-NYC.
