“Fosse/Verdon”
The “Fosse/Verdon” musical series has seriously increased its razzle dazzle factor. Just announced last week, a host of stage and screen favorites will join stars Sam Rockwell (Bob Fosse) and Michelle Williams (Gwen Verdon). Norbert Leo Butz, Ethan Slater, Byron Jennings, Laura Osnes, Margaret Qualley, Aya Cash, Nate Corddry, Susan Misner, Bianca Marroquin, Kelli Barrett, Evan Handler, Rick Holmes, and Paul Reiser have all officially joined the limited series, which is based off the biography “Fosse” written by Sam Wasson and tells the story of the romantic and creative partnership between Fosse and Verdon. The series is currently filming in New York City, and Telsey + Company has been in charge of putting together the all star cast. Make sure you watch for any notices coming from the casting duo to join the ensemble or fill any background roles!
“Rebecca”
Netflix takes on Hitchcock with their latest project. The streaming platform and Working Title have teamed up on a new adaptation of “Rebecca,” which will star Armie Hammer and Lily James. The two will play a newly-married couple at the center of the thriller based on Daphne du Maurier’s classic novel where a young woman (James) finds herself battling the shadow of her new husband’s (Hammer) dead first wife, Rebecca. The story was first adapted by Alfred Hitchcock in 1940. Ben Wheatley will reportedly be directing from a script by “Kingsman” scribe Jane Goldman. There are still some key roles that have yet to be cast, including Mrs. Danvers, the “cold, creepy, overbearing housekeeper” of the Winter estate. In recent years, Wheatley has used Shaheen Baig has his casting director, who has experience with Netflix as the CD of “Peaky Blinders.”
“Waitress”
Katharine McPhee is hopping the pond for pie. The singer-actor, who previously starred on Broadway in the hit musical “Waitress,” will make her West End debut in March reprising the lead role of Jenna. The show will become the first West End musical to have an all-female creative team, as was the case when the show opened in New York in 2015. So far, the “Smash” and “American Idol” alum is the only person to have been cast in the show. Telsey + Company has also cast both the Broadway production and the National Tour—it’s likely they have their hand in this production, as well.
“Misbehaviour”
More contestants have joined an upcoming pageant, but it might not in the way you might expect. Greg Kinnear, Lesley Manville, Keeley Hawes, Rhys Ifans, and Phyllis Logan have joined the cast of “Misbehaviour,” a dramedy based on the true story of the 1970 Miss World contest and its disruption by the newly-founded Women’s Liberation Movement. Kinnear and Manville will play Bob and Dolores Hope, respectively (Bob Hope hosted the competition). The newly-announced stars will join the already-announced Keira Knightley, Gugu Mbatha Raw, and Jessie Buckley. Philippa Lowthorpe is directing the feature from an original script written by Rebecca Frayn with revisions by Gaby Chiappe. A casting director hasn’t been publicly named, but the project is currently filming in London.
