In December, the organization launched an iPhone TKTS app, which has become one of the most downloaded New York theater apps at iTunes. Today TDF released a new app for Android smart-phone devices.
Both the Android and iPhone apps provide TKTS customers with information about current New York City productions, links to official show websites, and real-time ticket availability for each TKTS booth, located in downtown Brooklyn, at South Street Seaport, and in Times Square. All three booths sell same-day tickets to Broadway and Off-Broadway performances at up to 50 percent off the full cost.
Through May 15, the TKTS Android app is available as a free download. The iPhone app is also free of charge, through March 1.
TKTS has sold more than 54 million discount tickets since opening in 1973.
