Funeral services for actor Darren McGavin, who died of natural causes Feb. 25, will be held March 5 at 11a.m. at Hollywood Forever Chapel: 6000 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles. McGavin was best known for his starring role in the TV series Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer and playing the grouchy father in the holiday classic A Christmas Story. He appeared in dozens of TV programs and films from the early 1950s through the late '90s, including Kolchak: The Night Stalker, The X-Files, and had memorable supporting roles in The Natural and The Man with the Golden Arm. He won an Emmy for best guest star in 1990 for his role as the title character's father on Murphy Brown.
