“A Jazzman’s Blues”
A long-in-the-works Tyler Perry movie has finally begun production in Georgia. According to Macon’s The Telegraph, the upcoming Netflix feature film “A Jazzman’s Blues” will be taking over the town and turning back time as film crews have transformed the area around Cotton Avenue, Second Street, Mulberry Street, and Cherry Street into the set for the upcoming project. The story follows an investigation into an unsolved murder that unveils a story of forbidden love. The drama, which will be written and directed by Perry, will star Joshua Boone, Solea Pfeiffer, Brent Antonello, Brad Benedict, Ryan Eggold, Milauna Jemai Jackson, and more. Perry actually wrote the screenplay—his first—back in 1995, and Lionsgate acquired the rights back in 2006 with intentions to begin production the following summer, so you know this is one that Perry is passionate about. Kim Coleman is the film’s casting director.
