Today’s top casting notices could have you starring in a buzzy FringeNYC production later this year, or even in “Red Oaks” on Amazon!
“RED OAKS”
Based on this Amazon streaming series’ tagline, “Red Oaks” would be a “funny place to find yourself”—but you’ll do just that as an extra for an upcoming Season 2 episode. The 1980s-set comedy starring Craig Roberts as a young tennis player working at the renowned Red Oaks Country Club is seeking New York-based talent for extras in a swimming pool scene. Fitting dates for hired talent are May 18 and May 19; tentative work dates are May 24, May 31, and June 6 in Harrison, New York. This job pays $99 per 10 hours’ work with a 10-hour guarantee.
“THE BREEZE”
This short student film out of New York Film Academy is seeking four adult actors—two men, two women—for a May 21 and May 22 shoot in New York City. “The Breeze” is about a middle-aged man’s life after he loses his wife, and it features music based on singer-songwriter Bill Callahan’s “The Breeze/My Baby Cries.” Actors are needed to play the older and younger versions of the same married couple. This job with director Yuxuan Miao pays $50 per day plus meals.
ELITE DAILY SCRIPTED SERIES
This comedic scripted Web series from Elite Daily, “the voice of Generation-Y,” is seeking a number of New York City-based 20-something actors to reenact real-life bar tales from modern-day and 1970s-era Manhattan. A male bartender aged 55–70 is also being cast for the project, which is scheduled to film June 1 and June 2. It provides negotiable compensation based on each role.
“FRESH MEAT”
“Fresh Meat,” an upcoming FringeNYC work from playwright Hamza Zaman and director Jonathan Rosner, is holding auditions in New York City on May 18 and May 21 for three roles, including leads Tony Zigman and Jane Goodwin. Tony is a 13- to 17-year-old male (he will age several years over the course of the play) and a “strong actor for this high profile role” is needed. Jane is a high school student who needs a “mix of a fiery temper and an innocent demeanor.” A stipend and travel costs will be provided for this project. It begins rehearsals later this month and will be staged sometime between Aug. 12 and Aug. 28.
