Greenlit means a project is officially a go, so all you have to do is follow these leads to stay up to date. You never know where you’ll find an opportunity to land an audition!

“Law & Order: Hate Crimes”
There will be a little bit more law and order this coming year. NBC is once again expanding its “Law & Order” universe with a 13-episode order of “Law & Order: Hate Crimes,” from creator and executive producer Dick Wolf. This will be the seventh “Law & Order” series in total, including the still-running “SVU,” “Criminal Intent,” and its latest anthology, “True Crime.” If Wolf continues his usual trend, casting director Jonathan Strauss will also be casting this series, likely out of New York City.

“Veronica Mars”
The rumors were true: “Veronica Mars” will be getting a mini-series at Hulu. CFB Casting is attached for the second revival, with Kristen Bell reprising the role as the titular sleuth. Original creator Rob Thomas will also be boarding the revival, but no other details about the series have been released. CD Deedee Bradley was in charge of casting on the original series and the movie, so with Thomas and Bell back, it seems like she would have a hand in this new iteration as well. In terms of location, “Veronica Mars” historically has shot in Los Angeles.

“Designated Survivor”
Just months after ABC canceled it, “Designated Survivor” will have a new home at Netflix. The Kiefer Sutherland–fronted political drama has been given new life by the streaming platform for its third season after its original network dropped it back in May. Neal Baer will join the series as showrunner for the 10-episode third season, making him the fifth showrunner since the series began. If the rest of the team follows, Liz Dean will continue to serve as casting director.

“The Act”
Hulu is getting in on the true crime game with a new anthology series, “The Act,” and has tapped Patricia Arquette to star. The series, written by Michelle Dean and Nick Antosca and directed by Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, will tell one stranger-than-fiction true story per season, the first focusing on Dean’s 2016 Buzzfeed article “Dee Dee Wanted Her Daughter To Be Sick, Gypsy Wanted Her Mom To Be Murdered.” Sharon Bialy will be in charge of casting for the series, so keep an eye on her door for opportunities.

“Knives Out”
Before Daniel Craig begins filming the next James Bond flick, he’ll have a starring role in Rian Johnson’s murder mystery feature “Knives Out.” The “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” director will helm from his own script with Craig in the lead role. Production on the film is scheduled to take place in November before the star has to change into his 007 tux, but since the recent departure of director Danny Boyle, the shoot dates on the next Bond are not quite set in stone, so neither is the wrap date on “Knives Out.” Johnson typically uses casting director Mary Vernieu on his projects, so expect her to staff this one as well.
