“Tenet”
Christopher Nolan’s highly-anticipated upcoming film now not only has a title, but it also has a cast. The now-titled “Tenet” has added Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kenneth Branagh, Clémence Poésy, Dimple Kapadia, and Michael Caine to fill lead and supporting roles. The group will join the already-cast John David Washington (who will star), Elizabeth Debicki, and Robert Pattinson. Not much is known about the story other than it is an action epic evolving from the world of international espionage that will film across seven countries. Nolan is directing from his own screenplay, and the film is scheduled to hit theaters in July 2020. Nolan exclusively uses John Papsidera and/or Toby Whale to cast his projects.
“The Rose Tattoo”
Marisa Tomei was last on Broadway in Will Eno’s “Realistic Joneses” in 2014, but now she has found her next role on the Great White Way. The actor will star in a Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’ “The Rose Tattoo,” beginning in September. Trip Cullman will direct the play, which will be housed at Roundabout Theatre Company’s American Airlines Theatre. Additional casting has yet to be announced, so keep an eye out for casting opportunities. Jim Carnahan and his team handle the casting efforts in house for Roundabout productions.
“The Tiger Rising”
Queen Latifah will attend to her young subjects this fall as the star and executive producer of a film adaptation of “The Tiger Rising,” Kate DiCamillo’s 2001 bestselling children’s book. The story follows a 12-year-old boy who finds a caged tiger in the center of the woods near his home, as well as a young girl who changes his life. Latifah will play Willie May, a chambermaid at a local hotel who becomes a source of advice and comfort for the children. Production is scheduled to begin this fall in Thomasville, Georgia. Ray Giarratana will adapt the screenplay and direct. Kerry Barden is in charge of casting.
“Love Life”
Paul Feig and Anna Kendrick are teaming back up for “Love Life,” a 10-episode half-hour romantic comedy anthology series from Lionsgate TV and Feig’s Feigco Entertainment. The series is reportedly “about the journey from first love to last love, and how the people we’re with along the way make us into who we are when we finally end up with someone forever.” Kendrick, who recently starred in Feig’s “A Simple Favor,” will star in the first season. Further casting has yet to be announced, but Feig tends to lean on Allison Jones to fill roles.
“The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia”
First reported by Variety, Netflix has given a 16-episode order to the multi-cam comedy “The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia,” co-created by Mario Lopez and Seth Kurland. The series follows the titular Garcia, the world’s only 15-year-old robotics engineer and rocket scientist who gets the chance to work with NASA. Newcomer Paulina Chavez will play Ashley and Jencarlos Canela will play her uncle Victor, the pro football player-turned-high school coach who she moves in with. Alyson Silverberg and Jonathan Clay Harris are filling in the rest of the cast.
