The Midnight Witch
This creepy scripted series follows a young witch in the 16th century. She’s cursed to appear for an hour at midnight each night and is forced to rely on her intuition to survive. Set in the woods, it’s thematically underpinned by the message that we need to rely on nature to thrive, and the team state that it is tonally more a haunting fairy tale than horror and gore.
Lead role Isabel is for a white female actor with a playing age of 18–25 – and she needs to be believable throughout that age range as the action takes place over a number of years. Talent is sought throughout the UK and auditions will be held in Bristol in late February and early March. It will involve five days of filming and the role pays £500 plus travel and accommodation. Purgatory
This US TV series is looking for talent from the UK for a shoot in Armenia in early February. The plot set-up is a group of people invited to the launch of an exclusive resort. Although apparently strangers, we soon learn they are all connected in the cover-up of a murder. The situation deteriorates when the group tours a nearby cave, where they get trapped and killed, one by one…
Lead role Bobby is for a male actor of all ethnicities with a playing age of 35–45. A former convict, he’s an undereducated bad-guy, committing “multiple atrocities” throughout the series. An American accent is preferred, though the team are open to other accents.
Supporting role Ryan, an Interpol agent, is for a white male actor, 50–60. He’s smart, focused, and in decent shape, and attempts to save his missing child by solving the case.
The two other supporting roles are Chris’ Mother and Chris’ Father, for a white male and female actor, both with playing ages of 50–60. A wealthy couple, the mother dotes on their son Chris while the alpha-male father tires of continually bailing him out. American accents are preferred for these three supports, though again, the team is open to other readings. Compensation is $1500 a week total buyout for two to nine weeks, depending on the role. Hotel, food and per diems are also included. Apply via Backstage with a self-tape, and check out the casting notice for more information.
