HBO has greenlit the comedy pilot “Brothers in Atlanta,” about two best friends, Langston (Diallo Riddle) and Moose (Bashir Salahuddin), who try to navigate—but usually stumble—their way through the entertainment scene in Atlanta.

The pilot will film in Atlanta this spring and the cast will include Maya Rudolph and Jaden Smith. Riddle and Salahuddin—best known for their work as writers and performers on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon”—will produce, write, and star. The executive producer is “Saturday Night Live” honcho Lorne Michaels.

HBO had previously ordered a Riddle and Salahuddin pilot in which they played Atlanta reporters, though it did not get picked up. However, the network liked the duo’s comic skills along with the Atlanta setting, and decided to work with them again on a different concept.

“Brothers in Atlanta” is Michaels’ first series order with HBO. In addition to “SNL” he is also the executive producer of FXX's “Man Seeking Woman.”
