How do I know when I have “more experience”?
Hi all, I recently applied for agents (during COVID-19, which was not smart on my behalf), and one really amazing agent came back and said that he would consider signing me when I had more experience. I’m not sure how to gauge ‘more experience’? Since submitting to him I have been in two voiceover roles, two short films, and a music video but they were all student/small-budget projects. I’m assuming this isn’t enough but how will I know when it is enough? I don’t want to submit to him more than once more or else it seems weird, so I want to make sure I’m picking the right moment. Any input is appreciated!” —CaitlinSarah

Submitting for representation questions:
Hi! So I’ve done a few film and on-camera projects. I have training, and have done theatrical shows, as well. I’m looking for representation to submit to (managers and/or agents) and I was wondering if anyone has had success self-submitting to AEFH or CESD? They both have open submissions.

“Also, is this even a good time to submit for representation? I’m currently 17, Asian, she/her, bisexual, and can work locally in L.A. I have a local agent, but want to transition to the L.A. market. I’m looking into classes online there, too! Let me know your thoughts on this! Thanks!” —Madison_Chew

Can AEA members do cabarets, improv shows, etc.?
Are Equity members allowed to do cabarets and improv shows and sketch comedy shows? I’m talking like a one-night cabaret at Don’t Tell Mama or joining an improv team that performs weekly, etc. What are the rules in regards to these types of performances (also, why can’t I ever find any info about this online?) Can anyone shed some light, or tell me where I can find some answers? I’ve never quite known!” —Notsofunnygirl
