What is “Criminal Minds: Evolution” about?

“Criminal Minds: Evolution” is the Paramount+ reboot of the popular “Criminal Minds” show, which aired for 15 seasons on CBS. The revival is a continuation of the original story, following the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) team members as they investigate crimes for the FBI and track dangerous “UnSubs,” or unknown subjects.

Season 3 of “Criminal Minds: Evolution” will pick up after last season’s final episode cliffhanger, in which serial killer and dark mastermind Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) was stabbed in prison by fellow inmates.

Who is attached to “Criminal Minds: Evolution”?

Showrunner Erica Messer, who has been part of the “Criminal Minds” franchise since the show’s premiere in 2005, is an executive producer for the series. Per Deadline, Breen Frazier (“Alias”), Glenn Kershaw (“Army Wives”), Mark Gordon (“Grey’s Anatomy”), and Christopher Barbour (“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”) also signed on as executive producers.

As mentioned, Gubler is returning as Dr. Spencer Reid for one episode in the upcoming “Criminal Minds: Evolution” season. Gubler, who was with the show from 2005 to 2020, knows a thing or two about what it takes to be part of “Criminal Minds.” Take a look at our exclusive interview with the star to hear how he got his SAG-AFTRA card and what he wished he’d known before he started acting. Or read this interview, where he opens up about his film school experience.
