Set in the 1870s, the series follows five young, wealthy American women who travel to London in hopes of securing advantageous marriages to elite British men. In a classic “old money” versus “new money” dynamic, the women must navigate the challenges of being outsiders in London’s exclusive social scene, facing cultural clashes and opposition from the city’s stuffy high society. “The Buccaneers” is based on the unfinished novel of the same name by Edith Wharton, which was published posthumously in 1938.
