In the LGBT comedy series “Flying High With Charlie,” Brandon Salerno plays the titular Charlie, a gay flight attendant experiencing some, well, turbulence. “[He is] trying to balance his career as a flight attendant with the equally bizarre dates he goes on,” explains Salerno. “He relies on his best friends for guidance and tries to evade his stalker ex-boyfriend, Nick, who desperately wants to get back together.”
Luckily for Salerno, working on the series has proven far less tumultuous than its subject matter. “Charlie is one of my favorite roles that I’ve ever played,” he marvels. “I feel very connected to him. In addition, I absolutely love the style of the series! It’s a campy, quirky sitcom with unique characters and outlandish scenarios; basically my dream job. I couldn’t be more grateful to have been given this opportunity.”
Salerno landed the gig through Backstage. “I’m on Backstage every day, multiple times a day,” he insists. “I think it’s extremely important to be constantly submitting for roles and auditioning. Not only does each audition help you learn for future auditions, it shows that you’re putting yourself out there and are serious about your career.”
