For inspiration for his character, Juney, in director Seven King’s short film “Ballroom Entry,” Geovanni Cedeno turned to Shakespeare.

“Every time I read the screenplay and saw a scene with Juney, I knew that he was up to something very big and funny. I started seeing him as the Fool in Shakespeare’s ‘King Lear,’ ” Cedeno says. “After this discovery, I knew that I would create a character that will stand out in this movie.”

The short is set in New York and follows several characters involved in drug dealing. Juney is a gangster who, according to Cedeno, “wants one thing—and that’s money.”

Cedeno can’t stop praising King and his co-stars. “Nothing is better than working with a highly talented, respectful, and hardworking cast,” he says. “Everyone was determined to get the work done and that makes me comfortable on set.”

Looking ahead, he envisions “Ballroom Entry” making its big premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. As for himself, Cedeno says he’s looking to get out of his comfort zone. “I look for...roles that require a lot of movement, fighting, or intense dialogue.”
