Actor Jessica Barrish is currently hard at work on the feature film “Irritable.” However, she was working hard long before booking the gig.

“I was asked to prepare a scene from the film [that] required me to act alongside a man,” recalls Barrish. “One day, I was getting my [internet] fixed by these two nice young men and it hit me! I had found my co-stars. I convinced my technicians to be my heroes, and they couldn’t have been kinder.”

Clearly a resourceful performer, Barrish knows exactly how valuable an asset Backstage can be, which is why she has relied on it for years. “I’ve been reading Backstage since I was a teenager,” she says. “As a teen, I always found the articles really helpful and interesting, and as an adult, I certainly also appreciate the project listings.”

Backstage has also reliably assisted Barrish in seeking out the roles she can imbue with her singular point of view. “I’m drawn to rich, intricate characters with a challenge, problem, or deep-seated issue,” she says. “This allows me the opportunity to create a backstory and really explore [who] this character is and what makes her tick.”
