#IGotCast With Backstage: Meagan Lee Hodson

Meagan Lee Hodson is a firm believer in the principle that, as an actor, you always have to be looking toward the next thing. “Currently, I am on tour and unable to attend in-person auditions,” she explains. “Backstage helps me keep track of upcoming projects and look for any that will accept video submissions.”

Through Backstage, Hodson has booked several projects, including “Comfort Women: A New Musical,” in which she made her Off-Broadway debut, a regional production of “Shrek the Musical,” and Capital City Theatre’s production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.”

In the latter, running this fall, Hodson will play Marcy Park, a role she connects to fiercely. “We’re both furiously driven to be the best and set high expectations for ourselves,” she says, “something that any of my fellow actors can easily relate to.”

Hodson certainly has her ear to the ground within New York City’s acting scene; however, she lives outside of the Big Apple’s bustle in New Jersey, giving her a welcome respite. “I don’t mind the commute to the city,” she explains. “It gives me time to review sides and clear my head before [and] after auditions or rehearsals.”
