“The directors were very focused; they had a keen sense of what they wanted and, fortunately, that was me,” explains Oscar Pavlo. He’s referring to getting cast as Doctor in a recent project from filmmaker Aaron Schimberg called “Chained for Life,” alongside Jess Weixler (“Teeth”).
The role was a bit of a departure for Pavlo, who professes to generally playing bad guys. However, he describes the experience as “challenging, enriching, professional, and fun.”
Pavlo found the job through Backstage, which he’s been using for the last eight months. Through the magazine’s casting notices, the actor has booked gigs on “Orange Is the New Black” and “Gotham,” in “Ocean’s Eight,” and more. In a very short amount of time, Backstage, he says, “has been an incredible vehicle for finding challenging and enriching acting and modeling opportunities.”
Additionally, because of Backstage, Pavlo was able to join SAG-AFTRA. “The roles I have found on Backstage are quite professional and have expanded my résumé, which has led to many additional acting opportunities,” he says. “I see Backstage as a friend and mentor [that] inspires me not to lose faith or become derailed in my career path.”
