Rachel Worrell has stepped up her Backstage usage since the start of 2017, and it’s had results. “I have gotten more auditions this year than the past two years combined, which has been such an incredible feeling, regardless of whether I book the audition or not,” she says. “If you don’t have an agent yet, Backstage is pretty much an agent for you.”
From Worrell’s heightened Backstage use came a recent commercial gig for Nick at Nite, in which she depicted a frustrated mother pushing through a particularly grueling day. She describes working on the project as “a rush,” but one she thoroughly enjoyed. “It was an early call time, but by the time I got there, got into wardrobe, and started on set, it felt like it went by in 10 minutes.”
Worrell lives in Philadelphia and does most of her auditioning either there or in New York; she firmly believes it’s better to audition and not book it than to never have auditioned at all.
“Life is too short to wonder about the ‘what ifs,’ ” she insists. “So apply to every opportunity or audition, even if it means you’ll be out of your comfort zone.”
