“I had a massage, got introduced to Pilates, [and got a] pedicure,” Roxann Remekie recalls. But she isn’t reminiscing about her last day at the spa—she’s describing a recent gig booked through Backstage, a web and social media ad for Soho Sanctuary. “I [played] a young lady getting ready for my trip through the spa,” she says. More recently, still, Remekie also used Backstage to get cast in “Brooklynification,” a new web series now airing on BRICTV.
Speaking on her former casting experience for Soho Sanctuary, Remekie says the way she booked the job was coincidentally more luxurious than a standard casting process. “I didn’t have [an audition],” she admits. “I got called in from my headshot and résumé.” The shooting process itself was just as lovely. “I had the chance to be part of an experience that, in my normal life, helps me rejuvenate, relax, unwind, and recharge—if only for a day!”
Remekie has been using Backstage since August, and she now checks it every day, she says, due to “the caliber of auditions and projects [and] the exclusivity.”
Though getting to spend a working day at the spa is an added bonus, Remekie insists she looks for any role to which she can bring a truthful perspective. “Roles that organically move my being, emotionally,” she specifies. “Ones that I honestly believe I can authentically bring to life.”
