With perseverance and no shortage of talent, Gigi Cappetta has steadily built a career over the last three years in the indie and feature film industries. You could hardly describe her as a veteran actor, though. After all, she’s 9 years old.

“The success rate we have had in booking roles through Backstage is very high,” says Cappetta. “I built my acting career through Backstage magazine.”

The young star has been checking Backstage’s listings since she was 6, and has booked everything from feature films (“Moreau,” “Arisen”) to commercials (Sweet Loren’s cookies) to shorts (“Charity Case,” which won her a nomination for best actress under age 10 in the 35th Annual Young Artist Awards).

“Sometimes I get booked for roles from previous Backstage jobs,” says Cappetta, whose upcoming projects include playing the lead in “The Lion,” a short film. She continues to check listings for roles in indie films and on Web series, even though she is now represented by a top agent. “The only time we don’t use [Backstage],” she says, “is when I need a little break from the biz.”

Here’s to the beginning of a bright career!
