Katy Morris is an actor who understands the crucial concept of type. While browsing Backstage every morning, she gravitates toward younger roles because, she says, “Not only do I look extremely young for my age, but I am also a kid at heart.” Her infectious enthusiasm for creating and portraying dynamic characters recently led her to three dramatically different roles: a paralegal, an airline passenger, and, last but not least, a bartender who dates a treasure hunter.
“I love seeing all the projects around the United States,” Morris says. “Backstage also makes it so easy to apply for jobs—all you have to do is submit!” The casting site has made it possible for Morris to pad her film and television résumé; more important, the acting experience has improved her audition skills. Via Skype, she recently wowed a director who asked to see multiple cold reads. Morris remembers “having a great connection” with the character, and when the director offered her the role on the spot she happily accepted.
“Backstage has helped me grow my true passion by connecting me to the projects that will jump-start my career.” Congrats, Katy!
