When it was first announced that “The Aristocats” would be the latest live-action adaptation of an animated classic from Walt Disney Studios, Tigre McFluffers never dreamed he would be a part of it. Thanks to #IGotCats, Backstage’s new online casting service for felines—launching today, April 1!—McFluffers booked the lead role of alley cat Thomas O’Malley, a character he says is catnip to any aspiring star.
“Meow meow meow,” says McFluffers, whose previous theater credits include “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” and several Febreeze commercials. “Meow meowww! Meow meow meeoow.
“Meow,” he adds.
McFluffers cites Cheshire, Grumpy, and Antonio Banderas among his cat idols, and hopes to one day take on Mr. Mistoffelees on the Great White Way. For his fellow actors he recommends checking Backstage’s cat calls daily, just after waking up from a catnap.
Congratulations, Tigre! Surely this is only the beginning of a purrific career.
