So, you’ve decided you’re ready to dive into the world of getting paid to post. You’ve put in the work building engagement with your followers and you’ve made a list of brands you’d love to work with. Now it’s time to make your pitch.

Here’s a brand pitch email template to help you land your first deal.

What are the components of an influencer pitch to brands?

An effective influencer pitch email will include the following:

  1. Subject line/hook
  2. Introduction
  3. Personalization
  4. The pitch
  5. Social proof
  6. Call to action (CTA)

Sticking to this tried-and-true template (while personalizing for each brand collaboration prospect) will help you send structured, clear, and personalized pitches that will save time and have you well on your way to landing the brand collaboration of your dreams.

Let’s break each section down a little further.

1. The hook

A compelling yet straightforward subject line is key to grabbing the attention of your reader and getting your pitch considered in the first place. Whether you’re sending an email or sliding into a brand’s DMs, this is your chance to make a first impression and be clear about what it is you’re trying to accomplish.

Try something like: “Excited to help [Brand] reach [audience],” or “Collaboration opportunity—I would love to create magic with [Brand].” Your word count here is short, so be sure to get your point across in a way that is concise, approachable, and interesting. When in doubt, stick to the basics. A witty quip may work for some brands, but others may not open your email if it isn’t clear what the contents are.

2. Introduction

This is your chance to tell the brand who you are and why that matters. Your intro should only be a few sentences long and reveal the most relevant parts of yourself: your name, what you’re known for, your platform and audience details, and, if applicable, something related to the brand you’re pitching.

It can be tempting to get into the weeds here, but don’t! Offer only the most important information up front to keep your pitch from getting too long. Staying brief and relevant helps you come across as confident and professional, shows that you respect the reader’s time, and establishes your credibility without over-explaining.

You can always attach additional information, like a media kit or follower snapshot, at the bottom of your email. In fact, we recommend it.

3. Personalization

Although we’re walking through what a standardized template looks like, a canned fill-in-the-blank pitch will NOT help you stand out. In fact, it’s more likely to hurt your chances at securing a brand collaboration at all. Before you send your pitch, do a bit of research and think through the reasons why you want to work with this brand, in particular.

What do you love about it? What are its values? Its tone? Does your personal brand align with its mission, goals, or product? Have you used its products before and love them, or will you be a first timer? Why is it that you resonate with this brand specifically?

Pick a reason or two why THIS brand is a good fit, and highlight it in your email to demonstrate your genuine interest in collaboration.

4. The pitch

You’ve made it to the heart of your message—your opportunity to share what value you bring to the brand and your unique ideas for the partnership. What is it that you have to offer? Why is your collaboration beneficial for the brand’s marketing goals?

If you have specific ideas, mention them here. For example: “I’d love to create an Instagram Reel highlighting your new summer line. My [number] followers look to me for cute and comfy recommendations, and your [product name] is exactly the type of rec I love to give. My click-through rate for affiliate links is typically [rate].”

Pitching specific and tailored ideas shows the brand what it can get out of your collaboration. It paints a picture of exactly how you plan to represent it to your followers, removing the guesswork and allowing them to make a decision more easily.

5. Social proof or examples

In a short sentence or two, build trust and credibility in your pitch by noting any past partnership or metrics that make sense to share. A brief mention of other top brand names you’ve worked with, quotes from past brand collaborations, or strong performance stats from past posts serve as a sort of safety net for the brand by signifying potential for similar future success.

6. A clear call to action

Finally, a pitch is never complete without a clear CTA. This is where you tell the brand exactly what next steps you’d like it to take.

To be the most effective, keep this part direct, polite, proactive, and positive. Show that you’re thinking ahead and ready to move into action, but leave the ball in the brand’s court.

Something like, “I would love to schedule a call next week to discuss ideas. Are there some times you are available?,” shows your intention (to talk next steps and get started right away), offers a chance to respond (share available times), but remains friendly, flexible, and professional.

7. Contact information and sign-off

Wrap up your message by reiterating your excitement. Make it easy for the brand to reach you by providing your contact information and noting any additional attached information or materials.

Consider including:

  • Direct links to all of your platforms
  • Important stats like your follower counts, audience reach, engagement metrics, and audience demographics
  • Past collaborations and successful campaigns
  • Media kit

These additions can be included as a bulleted list after your sign-off, as separate attachments, or as a simple sentence at the end of your email. (For example: “You can find my Instagram here and I’ve included my media kit here for you to take a deeper look if you are interested in working together.”)
