The Tony-nominated smash hit “Waitress”—about the powers of baking, with a score by Sara Bareilles and a brilliant lead performance by Jessie Mueller—is still going strong at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre—as you can see from the photos supplied by Jeremy Morse, who took over the role of Ogie from Tony nominee Christopher Fitzgerald for two weeks at the end of July. Morse shares some of his snaps from that time, and audiences will have another opportunity to see him perform “Never Ever Getting Rid of Me” when he resumes the role Aug. 20–27.

I have a ritual of doing planks before or during every show. Nick Cordero, who plays Earl and who was my roomie for two weeks while I was on for Ogie, has captured me in the act. Three minutes of plank action! Wahoo!

Betsy Ross (Jenna Ushkowitz) and Paul Revere (me) getting ready for a sexy Revolutionary War re-enactment.

This is a shot of our preshow huddle that we do right before the show starts. Every performance we come up with a pie of the day: sometimes for giggles, sometimes for new cast members, sometimes honoring the events of the day. This one features two of our newest cast members, Geoffrey Kidwell, who just made his Broadway debut, and Jenna Ushkowitz, who has just stepped into the role of Dawn.

So there are fresh blackberries and whipped cream that are placed on baking racks for Act 2. I’ve made it a ritual to steal a couple at intermission. Don’t tell stage management. Seriously. Don’t. Please? Thanks.

Eric Anderson and I are ready for action… or for a nap. It’s been a long (but great) week of rehearsal and shows. Good night!
