NEW YORK (Reuters) – Stage and film star Joel Grey will return to Broadway this coming March in a revival of the musical "Anything Goes," the Roundabout Theater Company said on Thursday.
Grey, who won Broadway's Tony Award and the film industry's Oscar, for his portrayal of the Master of Ceremonies in separate versions of "Cabaret," will take the role of Moonface Martin for "Anything Goes," which first ran on Broadway in the 1930s with music and lyrics by Cole Porter.
The musical farce, which features songs like "You're the Top" and "I Get a Kick out of You" tells the tale of a young stowaway aboard an ocean liner who falls for a wealthy heiress and needs the help of people like Moonface to woo the woman.
Two-time Tony winner Kathleen Marshall will direct and another Tony honoree, Sutton Foster, takes the key role of nightclub singer Reno Sweeney.
The revival of "Anything Goes" begins preview performances on March 10, 2011, and opens officially on April 7th at Broadway's Stephen Sondheim Theater.
