“911: Lone Star”
Fox is gearing up to save a few more lives next year. The network has picked up “911: Lone Star,” the Texas-based spinoff of its current series “9-1-1.” Brad Falchuk, Ryan Murphy, and Tim Minear are expanding their emergency-focused series by heading to the Lone Star state with Rob Lowe in the lead role. When a New York City cop relocates to the heart of Texas with his son in tow, he soon finds that managing his personal and professional lives comes at a high cost. Casting director Eric Souliere has already stacked the cast, which also includes Liv Tyler, Brian Michael Smith, Ronen Rubinstein, Natacha Karam, Sierra Aylina McClain, Julian Works, and Jim Parrack among others. Production is already underway as the project aims for a January 2020 premiere date. While the series will take place in Austin, the production itself will film in Los Angeles; keep an eye out for background and day player opportunities.
Tracy Oliver Project
Tracy Oliver and Amy Poehler are bringing friendship to Amazon Studios. Creator-writer Oliver will executive produce alongside Poehler on a currently untitled series that’s looking to showcase the complicated and supportive nature of friendship. The half-hour comedy will follow four New York University graduates as they push beyond their college years into navigating the ups and downs of life, love, and achieving their dreams. Though the ten-episode series will shoot in NYC, casting is going through the L.A.-based office of Rebecca Mangieri. While no actors have been announced, shooting will start around February 2020. Production on the first season is expected to continue until late May.
Paul Simms Project
Technology can be fickle and life-changing—and that has never been truer than for one family facing a world-challenging technological crisis. The currently untitled Paul Simms comedy project has recently landed a pilot commitment with FX. When a family is hacked and their emails are disseminated, they desperately scramble to contain the sensitive information and private details of their lives. Unable to stop the leak, the family must find a way to manage the catastrophic fallout. Casting through the office of Beke/White has already begun, attaching Chris Messina and Ari Graynor. While additional announcements are expected, the pilot is pushing forward with shooting in January. The project has yet to secure a filming location, though it is likely to be either L.A. or NYC.
