“Nine Days”
Coming off a big couple of years with “Black Panther” and “Us,” Winston Duke will move to a leading role alongside “Doctor Strange” sidekick Benedict Wong. The two were last seen fighting in “Avengers Endgame” and are now moving into a different part of the supernatural world. The story will follow a reclusive man, played by an actor who has yet to be announced, who spends his days holed up in his home. He finds himself at the culmination of his life and is asked in the afterlife to choose who should be the next person to be born. Conflict arises when he finds that he has feelings for one of the potential inhabitants. Casting is underway with Chrystie Street Casting. In addition to Duke and Wong, also joining the cast will be Bill Skarsgård, Zazie Beetz, and David Rysdahl. Production on the film will begin in July in Utah with Edson Oda set to direct the project.
“Them: Covenant”
Amazon Studios will try to scare you with its horror series from Lena Waithe, “Them: Covenant.” The anthology series steps back in time to the year 1953 to find a black family from North Carolina making the trek to Los Angeles to start a better life. Once they arrive on the West Coast, they set up their new home in a predominantly white neighborhood. When racial tensions reach a breaking point, the family finds that the pristine, tree-lined neighborhood harbors dangerous secrets and violent neighbors. Waithe will executive produce the series and has brought on board the services of Lowry-Johnson/Goldstein Casting. While production is fast approaching, no actors have officially been announced for the project. The series is scheduled to start shooting in late June and continue through the summer, likely in Los Angeles.
“There’s Someone Inside Your House”
Amazon isn’t the only streaming powerhouse looking to keep the suspense going; Netflix is bringing more scary to the screen in “There’s Someone Inside Your House.” Based on the Stephanie Perkins young adult novel of the same name, the film will follow a teen girl as she notices people at her high school are dying one by one. The gruesome murders soon make it evident that a serial killer is on the loose, and whoever it is seems to be targeting her and her friends. Netflix has yet to publicly attach any actors to the project, but it has enlisted the help of Rich Delia Casting to start assembling talent. Production on the film is slated to begin in August in Vancouver, British Columbia.
